I have not yet submitted an FLR (IED) application but have a query about a work permit matter?

I have submitted an FLR (IED) application. How long will it take to process?

We are currently experiencing a high volume of applications. This has had a temporary impact on our ability to clear 70% of these cases within 20 working days from the date of postage.

The current position is that applications may take 35-40 working days from the date of postage to process. Regrettably this may not be possible in all cases and we welcome your patience during this temporary lull in service.

Am I able to start work whilst waiting for my application to be processed?

Yes, if you are an existing work permit holder you can start your new job on the strength of your work permit permission letter, providing your existing work permit visa covers all or part of the period of the new employment.

For all non-work permit holders (HSMP applicants, students, student nurses), if you still had leave to remain in the UK on the date you posted your application, you will be able to continue working as the arrangements of your current visa allow.

I need my application to be processed urgently

Requests for urgent consideration must be made by fax. The fax template is available on this website. Please note that we cannot guarantee to process all requests for urgent treatment.

A same-day service is offered to FLR (IED) applicants who are work permit holders at our Croydon Public Enquiry Office. This is a premium service and more information is available on www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk or by telephone 0870 606 7766.

I have already submitted an urgent request form but have had no response

We are currently receiving a high volume of urgent requests, which are currently being considered under strict criteria. Due to the high volume of applications being received, we regret it is not possible to comply with all requests for urgent treatment.

Important. In the event you submit an urgent request form, please assist us by making sure that all mandatory information is provided. Failure to provide this information may delay consideration of your urgent request.
