As a result of a change to the Immigration Rules on the 9 January 2006 there is a new category for visiting religious workers and religious workers in non-pastoral roles. Any religious workers or Kirtani performers, where in the past a work permit was required, are now able to enter the UK under this new category, as it is the most appropriate route. Any work permit applications received after 19 June 2006 will not be approved and the employer will be referred to the Immigration and Nationality Enquiry Bureau to obtain information on the new category.

Any other religious performers should continue to submit work permit applications in the normal way.
